Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Paperbark Farm

Rachel Gelling and Nathan McKenzie are the owners of Paperbark Farm, a property situated in Mount Vincent, approximately 30km west of Newcastle, NSW. The property is a small home-based business as well as a wildlife-friendly sanctuary. Rachel and Nathan intend to maintain the property for these purposes, conserving the habitat and its wildlife for the future.

Paperbark Farm is situated close to the border of the Watagan Mountains and spans over approximately 16 hectares. The property is nestled in a valley and is dominated by native bushland, providing habitat for a range of native species. Vegetation on the property largely consists of Eucalypt woodland interspersed with pockets of rainforest in the gullies.

Wildlife found throughout the property includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), sugar gliders (Petaurus breviceps) and various other small marsupials.
