Dolly Gent is the owner of Peephill Wildlife Sanctuary, a property situated in Sutherlands, approximately 100km northeast of Adelaide, South Australia. The property is a residence, wildlife rehabilitation site and sanctuary, and it is Dolly’s intention for it to remain as such.
The property covers approximately 14.97 hectares of rocky undulating bushland, with a small area designated for the rehabilitation of native species. Vegetation largely consists of mallee woodland and native pine, with intermittent areas of understorey and partially native grassland occurring throughout the property.
Native wildlife found on the property includes red kangaroos (Macropus rufus), western grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), euros (Macropus robustus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus) as well as a wide variety of reptile species and abundant birdlife. Several orphaned eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) are also in care at the sanctuary.
