Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / TAS / Lumera Chalets

Lumera Chalets is an oasis snuggled below a large knobbly outcrop mountain known affectionately as St Patricks Head (Lumera Genena Wuggelena) over looking the east coast of Tasmania. The three solar-powered Chalets are set in a high biodiversity forest that is protected forever by a conservation covenant.

The open-plan chalets enclose guests in timber-lined, wood-heated comfort, boasting the most sensational ocean views from your private balcony. As dusk draws in and the forest comes to life around you, settle in and just relax.

Peter and Ian Power-Lawrence are the owners of Lumera Chalets, offering eco-friendly accommodation in the form of three solar-powered chalets. Lumera Chalets covers 29.4 hectares of eucalypt woodlands and is situated 600 metres above sea level on a sloping block overlooking the east coast of Tasmania, including the Bay of Fires.

Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary include Tasmanian devils (Sarcophilus harrisii), spotted-tail quolls (Dasyurus maculatus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus tasmaniensis), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), swift parrots (Lathamus discolor), Tasmanian bettongs (Bettongia gaimardi), eastern barred bandicoots (Perameles gunnii), long-nosed potoroos (Potorous tridactylus), and blind velvet worms (Tasmanipatus anophthalmus).
