Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / WA / Numbie

Nicci and Simon Whitehouse are the owners of Numbie, a property located approximately 100km northeast of Northam.  The property is former wheat and sheep farm land which Nicci and Simon are revegetating and use for recreation, and intend to be a wildlife sanctuary.  Nicci and Simon have established a conservation covenant under the Western Australian Soil and Land Conservation Act, protecting Numbie in perpetuity.

The property covers 39 hectares and 25,000 trees and shrubs indigenous to the area have been planted progressively since 2009. The predominant vegetation type is wheatbelt woodland, an endangered ecological community.

Examples of wildlife species found on Numbie include western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), euros (Macropus robustus) short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla) and a variety of native reptile species.
