Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / La Granja Holistic Alpacas

Joy Allenby-Acuna and Heroides Acuna are the owners of La Granja Holistic Alpacas, a property located approximately 20km north of Bungendore. The property is a wildlife-friendly sanctuary and a residence, which is also home to 19 alpacas. It is Joy and Heroides intent to continue to manage the property holistically for the benefit of the local environment.

The sanctuary covers 26.11 hectares of native pasture and rocky terrain on the eastern shore of Lake George with snowy-southern tablelands grasslands as the main vegetation types. Vegetation includes snow gums (Eucalyptus pauciflora), wattles (Acacia spp.), banksias (Banksia spp.), she oaks (Casuarina spp.), black locusts (Robinia pseudoacacia), and other gum trees (Eucalyptus spp.).

Wildlife species known to inhabit the area include swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus spp.), galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), tiger (Notechis scutatus) and eastern brown (Pseudonaja textilis) snakes and a variety of other birds and lizards.
