A dedicated wildlife sanctuary, holiday house and orchard

Description

Tjoan Lie is the owner of Wattle Brae, a property located approximately 28km south of Mudgee.  The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and holiday house, also used for permaculture and featuring a fruit forest.  It is Tjoan's intention to enter into a Voluntary Conservation Agreement with the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage to better protect the conservation values of Wattle Brae.

The sanctuary covers 42.15 hectares, the majority of which is bushland and forms part of the Great Eastern Ranges conservation corridor.  Featuring a permanent creek and waterfall, the vegetation is dominated by wattles and several varieties of eucalypts.

Wildlife species known to occur on Wattle Brae include swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), various parrots and other bird species, and a range of reptile species such as red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus).
