Lyndell and Andy Carnahan are the owners of Lorelei, a property located in Nerriga, approximately 70km southwest of Nowra, NSW. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and it is Lyndell and Andy’s intent to continue controlling invasive species such as bracken and blackberries to better maintain the property for native flora and fauna. Lyndell and Andy have also recently applied for Land for Wildlife.
The property covers approximately 10.1 hectares of gently undulating hills featuring eucalypts such as scribbly gums (Eucalyptus haemastoma) and native grasses. Approximately 2 hectares of the property consists of grasses which provides grazing land for macropods.
Wildlife found on the property includes bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked (Macropus rufogriseus) and swamp (Wallabia bicolor) wallabies, sacred kingfishers (Todiramphus sanctus), superb fairy-wrens (Malurus cyaneus) and laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae).
