Zrinka Veljaca and Hugo Toro are the owners of Eagle View, a property located in Gundaroo, approximately 50km south of Goulburn, New South Wales. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and is registered with Land for Wildlife. Zrinka and Hugo currently utilise the property for recreational purposes and intend to maintain the property’s native vegetation as habitat for wildlife.
Eagle View covers 113 hectares bordering Gundaroo Creek. The property is densely vegetated with eucalypt woodlands and largely consists of undulating slopes and ridges. Vegetative species present include Eucalypts such as yellow box (Eucalyptus melliodora), red box (Eucalyptus polyanthemos), stringy bark (Eucalyptus obliqua), scribbly gum (Eucalyptus haemastoma), brittle gum (Eucalyptus mannifera), apple box (Eucalyptus bridgesiana) and argyle apple (Eucalyptus cinerea). The property also features acacia species, orchids and various wildflower species.
Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary include swamp (Wallabia bicolor) and red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides), antechinus (Antechinus spp.), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), olive legless lizards (Delma iornata), shingleback lizards (Tiliqua rugosa), bluetongue lizards (Tiliqua scincoides), red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus) and common brown snakes (Pseudonaja textilis). A wide variety of bird species are also present including flame robins (Petroica phoenicea) and scarlet robins (Petroica boodang).
