Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / NSW / Lake Forest

Sue Gould and Rod Thorn are the owners of Lake Forest, a property situated in Coomba Park, approximately 140km north of Newcastle, New South Wales. The property is a residence and dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and the owners intend to maintain it as such whilst regenerating native ecosystems in the area. The property is additionally registered with Land for Wildlife.

The property spans 2 hectares of steep land on the foreshore of Wallis Lake. The lower half of the property houses a residence, dam, vegetable garden and small orchard. The top half is comprised of regenerating eucalypt woodland dominated by spotted gum (Corymbia maculata) and grey ironbark (Eucalyptus paniculata).

A range of wildlife is present including glossy black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus lathami), feathertail gliders (Acrobates pygmaeus), brushtail possums (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ring-tailed possums (Pseudocheirus peregrinus).
