Annie and Chris Townsend is the owner of Warradugga, a property situated in Twelve Mile, approximately 90km east of Dubbo, New South Wales. The property is a residence and small farm as well as a dedicated wildlife sanctuary. Chris intends to maintain the land for self- sufficient off-grid living, with 40% of the property dedicated to native revegetation and the remainder of the bush and grasslands maintained as is.
The property spans approximately 113 hectares and is comprised of 60% cleared grazing land, 20% native bushland and 15% black pine forest. The property features two creeks, one dam and several roads. Half of the property is composed of hilly land, with the rest comprised of flat plains and gently undulating slopes.
The creek lines are home to old-growth eucalypts and much of the remnant vegetation is eucalypt woodland. The grasslands also feature some native grass species as well as Xanthorrhoea, however there are also many invasive weeds present on the property.
A wide variety of native species are present including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), brushtail possums (Trichosurus vulpecula) and a range of native birds.
