A wildlife-friendly sanctuary and rehabilitation site for macropods

Description

John Schweitzer is the owner of a property situated in Hilltop, approximately 40km west of Wollongong, New South Wales. The property is a home and wildlife-friendly sanctuary as well as a rehabilitation and release site for kangaroos and other animals, and it is John’s intention to maintain it as such for the benefit of native species.

The property covers approximately 2.02 hectares of open pasture and native grasses scattered with trees, predominately eucalypts and acacias. It closely neighbours Nattai National Park as well as Bargo State Conservation Area.

An abundance of wildlife is present including various macropods, brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, gliders, bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus) and a variety of native birds.
