Rosie and Simon Lempriere are the owners of Euki, a property situated in Upper Kangaroo River, approximately 80km southwest of Wollongong, New South Wales. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and rural home, also used for recreation. Rosie and Simon intend to promote biodiversity by preserving the property’s native wildlife and habitat.
Euki spans approximately 33 hectares and borders the Upper Kangaroo River to the west. Formerly used to farm livestock, the property is largely comprised of native vegetation with around 5 hectares of land cleared by the previous owners. Vegetation consists of eucalypt forest dominated by southern blue gums (Eucalyptus globulus) and temperate rainforest populated by cabbage tree palms (Livistona australis) and ferns.
A wide range of native species are commonly sighted on the property including bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor) and red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus).
An abundance of birdlife is also present including superb lyrebirds (Menura novaehollandiae), yellow-tailed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus funereus), gang-gang cockatoos (Callocephalon fimbriatum), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), Australian wood ducks (Chenonetta jubata), Australian magpies (Cracticus tibicen), Pacific (Ardea pacifica) and white-faced (Egretta novaehollandiae) herons and Torresian crows (Corvus orru).
