Mark and Sonia are the owners of a property situated in Dorrigo, approximately 60km west of Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and bush regeneration site, and it is the owners’ intention to preserve and re-establish native habitat while enhancing wildlife corridors between neighbouring properties. The property is additionally registered with Land For Wildlife.
Spanning 42 hectares, the property is comprised of predominately native bush with around 8 hectares cleared. The property is situated on a north-facing slope, bordered by the Little Murray River to the north and native bushland on the east and west boundaries. The owners have maintained the land without pesticides for over 12 years. Vegetation is characterized by eucalypt woodland interspersed with some small pockets of temperate rainforest.
A range of wildlife is present on the property including koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus giganteus) and a wide variety of birdlife. Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) are also found in the riparian zone.
