Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Susann and Ronald’s Refuge

Susann and Ronald Green are the owners of a property located approximately 35km northwest of Noosa Heads. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and a private residence. It is Susann and Ronald’s intent to continue to utilise the property for conservation purposes, with a keen interest in preserving and regenerating local flora for the protection of native wildlife. The sanctuary is also a registered with Land for Wildlife and Noosa Landcare.

The property is situated at the base of Mount Pinbarren and covers approximately 3.17 hectares of gently sloping grassland which the owners believe was previously used as pastureland. Vegetation includes a variety of eucalypts with riparian vegetation along a creek which is typically dry except after heavy rain.

Wildlife species known to inhabit the area include eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), brush tail (Trichosurus Vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), platypuses (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) and a wide variety of reptiles and birds.
