Lloyd and Amanda Hancock are the owners of Saddler Springs, a property located approximately 115km north of Injune. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary, incredibly rich in biodiversity. It is Lloyd and Amanda’s intent for the property to continue to be used for the benefit of conservation and education.
Saddler Springs covers approximately 8,000 hectares, forming one side of the iconic Carnarvon Gorge in Queensland’s Central Highlands. The property consists of pristine open woodland, sandstone lowlands and volcanic high country dissected by a number of key headwaters, springs and gorges. Saddler Springs encompasses 17 intact Regional Ecosystems, including rainforest and a variety of eucalypts, cypress pines, angophoras, upland stringy/mountain oaks, all forming part of the Brigalow Belt Bioregion.
Wildlife species known to inhabit the property are recorded in the Boobook Consultancy Report for Saddler Springs, which notes the property has the biggest fauna diversity known for the given area. These species include Herbert’s rock-wallabies (Petrogale herberti), eastern pebble-mound mice (Pseudomys patrius), northern quolls (Dasyurus hallucatus) and squatter pigeons (Geophaps scripta).
