A dedicated wildlife sanctuary also used for agriculture and recreation

Paul and Melissa Prociv are the owners of Figtree Hill, a property located approximately 85km north of Brisbane. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary also used for agriculture and recreation, and it is Paul and Melissa's intent to reforest as much of the degraded pastureland as possible while producing a significant amount of fruit and vegetables for their own use. The biodiversity values of Figtree Hill are also protected through a conservation covenant with the Sunshine Coast Council which covers 50% of the property.

The sanctuary covers 10 hilly hectares featuring deep gullies of basaltic loam, with the dominant vegetation types being lowland sub-tropical rainforest (a nationally endangered ecological community in southeast Queensland) and wet sclerophyll forest. Wildlife species for which Figtree Hill is known to provide habitat include various mammals, frogs and reptiles, as well as numerous birds.
