Kim Semple is the owner of Maganda Moon, a property located approximately 40km north of Yeppoon. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and, occasionally, a private residence. It is Kim’s intent to continue to utilise the property for conservation purposes including by planting more native vegetation to attract additional birdlife. Kim also uses the sanctuary to identify birds for BirdLife Australia.
Maganda Moon covers 1.5 hectares and includes wetlands, marshy grasslands and a paperbark forest with a large spring fed lake providing a good water source for the local wildlife. Vegetation includes a variety of eucalypts, wattles, banksias and ferns.
Maganda Moon provides important habitat for wildlife including rakali (Hydromys chrysogaster), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus) and many fish and native frogs, as well as more than thirty species of birds already identified on the property.
