A residence, dedicated wildlife sanctuary, grazing property and organic farm

Description

Advaita Way is a rural property located approximately 35km South-West of Nerang. The property was purchased with the intent of being a residence, dedicated native wildlife sanctuary, for the grazing of cattle and horses, as well as for agricultural use through a variety of fruits and vegetables which are grown organically.  The owner aims to demonstrate that sustainable agriculture, based on permaculture methods, can increase biodiversity in the immediate environment.

The sanctuary covers 128 hectares of which approximately half is either pastures or cleared, with the remaining half being regrowth and remnant vegetation that backs on to the Lamington National Park. The remnant vegetation is predominantly rainforest, and particular focus is being placed on the rehabilitation of riparian areas.

Wildlife known to be present on Advaita Way includes northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), lace monitors (Varanus varius), endangered giant barred frogs (Mixophyes iteratus), owls, platypuses (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), and many other species of bats, birds, snakes and frogs.
