Paul Verity is the owner of Sanctuary Retreat, a property located approximately 10km north of Mission Beach, Queensland. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary with two per cent of the land used for eco-friendly accommodation and a yoga retreat. It is Paul's intent for it to continue to be used for conservation purposes and sustainable eco-tourism, with the sanctuary also registered as a Nature Refuge.

Sanctuary Retreat covers 18.37 hectares of tropical rainforest. Wildlife known to inhabit the area include southern cassowaries (Casuarius casuarius), striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), green tree frogs (Litoria caerulea), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), red-legged pademelons (Thylogale stigmatica), brown tree snakes (Boiga Irregularis), sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), and tawny frogmouths (Podargus strigoides).
