Linda Back is the owner of a property situated in Mount Mee, approximately 50km north of Brisbane, Queensland. The property is a recreational site and dedicated wildlife sanctuary. Linda and her partner Philip intend to create a garden around the house, and have plans to revegetate some areas of the property whilst eliminating weeds.
The property covers approximately 20 hectares and consists of 75% regrowth forest, 5% lantana and other weeds and 20% grassland, some of which is grazed by cattle.
Wildlife found on the property includes bandicoots, red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus), eastern brown snakes (Pseudonaja textilis), carpet pythons (Morelia spilota), small-eyed snakes (Cryptophis nigrescens), brown tree snakes (Boiga irregularis) and various frogs. A swamp wallaby (Wallabia bicolor) and a short-beaked echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus) have also been sighted. The property is also home to an abundance of birdlife, with 87 species identified.
