Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Senko

Heather Bridges is the owner of Senko, a property situated in Silky Oak, approximately 140km south of Cairns, Queensland. The property is a dedicated sanctuary as well as a wildlife rehabilitation and release site. Heather intends to maintain the sanctuary for these purposes, with plans to continue regenerating the native rainforest habitat for the benefit of local wildlife.

The property covers approximately 0.37 hectares set in tropical rainforest, which provides habitat for locally native and released wildlife. An abundance of species are present including agile wallabies (Macropus agilis), long-nosed bandicoots (Perameles nasuta), carpet pythons (Morelia spilota), gliders, flying-foxes (Pteropus spp.), microbats, frogs and butterflies. A wide range of birds is also found on the property, among them southern cassowaries (Casuarius casuarius), honeyeaters, sun birds and finches.
