Tarnya Powell and Barry Gibson are the owners of Koah’s Den Dingo Sanctuary, a property located in Munro Plains, approximately 150km south of Cairns, Queensland. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary and the owners intend to establish a dingo sanctuary on the land in the near future. They also have plans to revegetate the property and establish a wildlife rehabilitation site and education facility in the future.
The property spans approximately 6.07 hectares and features a natural wildlife corridor and creek. The property is comprised of mixed native vegetation and cleared land, with vegetation characterised by tropical vegetation and native grassland.
A variety of wildlife are known to inhabit the property including dingoes (Canis dingo), spotted-tailed quolls (Dasyurus maculatus), striped possums (Dactylopsila trivirgata), bandicoots, agile wallabies (Macropus agilis), red-necked (Thylogale thetis) and red-legged (Thylogale stigmatica) pademelons, lace monitors (Varanus varius), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and a range of native birds.
