Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Ray and Bev’s Refuge

Ray and Bev Hibberd are the owners of a property situated in The Summit, approximately 10km north of Stanthorpe, Queensland. The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and Ray and Bev intend to maintain the existing habitat for the benefit of native species. The property is additionally registered with Land for Wildlife.

The property spans approximately 19 hectares and features three dams which provide water and habitat for wildlife. Vegetation is dominated by eucalypt woodland, some of which is remnant, interspersed with large granite boulders. The woodland present is part of a designated wildlife corridor for koalas.

A wide range of wildlife is present on the property including koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), snakes and numerous species of lizard.
