Jacqueline Blues is the owner of a property situated in Bucca, approximately 30km west of Bundaberg, Queensland. The property is a home and dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and Jaqueline wishes to restore the land to create a wildlife-friendly oasis for native species. Previously a cleared farming lot, the property is slowly recovering with the removal of weeds and introduction of native vegetation which also serves to provide food and shelter for wildlife.
The property covers approximately 14.98 hectares and features a homestead and two cleared paddocks, which the owner is in the process of revegetating. The majority of the property, however, is comprised of intact bushland and eucalypt woodland.
A wide variety of wildlife are present including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), frogs, lizards, snakes and an abundance of native birds and insects. Non-native cane toads (Rhinella marina), red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and European brown hares (Lepus europaeus) are also present on the property.
