Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / TAS / Furry Angels Refuge

John Barkley and Paige Wormell are the owners of Furry Angels Refuge, a rural property located on the outskirts of Snug, approximately 20km South of Hobart, Tasmania, which is primarily a home and dedicated wildlife sanctuary.  John and Paige hope to eventually set up a permanent sanctuary and rehabilitation centre for both wildlife and domestic animals on the property.

The sanctuary covers approximately 4.86 hectares made up of both pasture and native vegetation, with eucalypt and fern species being most common.  Wildlife present on the sanctuary includes Bennett’s wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus) long-tailed mice (Pseudomys higginsi), cockatoos (Cacatua galerita), pied currawongs (Strepera graculina), brown goshawks (Accipiter fasciatus) and a variety of native frog species.
