Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / VIC / Glenavon

Charles Foster is the owner of Glenavon, a property located approximately 65km northeast of Shepparton, Victoria.  The property is a dedicated wildlife sanctuary also used for wildlife rehabilitation, and it is Charles’ intent to continue the establishment of native habitat on Glenavon. The sanctuary is situated just 400 metres from the recently established Murray River Park

The sanctuary covers approximately 2.02 hectares, with predominant vegetation including Eucalyptus, Acacia, Grevilia and Casuarina species, with silver cassia (Senna artemisioides) also featuring heavily.  Previously a citrus property, Glenavon is now primarily open grassland interspersed with and bordered by a variety of native trees and shrubs.  Numerous native bird species are regularly spotted, as well as possums, various reptiles, and koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus).
