Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / VIC / Amwell Cottage

Jock McGinty is the owner of Amwell Cottage, a property located in Kalimna West, approximately 30km east of Bairnsdale, Victoria, purchased with the intent of providing for a country lifestyle, recreation, and possibly tourism purposes.  In the future, Jock plans to use Amwell Cottage primarily as a country residential property.

The sanctuary covers approximately 4.04 hectares of land, half of which is made up of native bushland with mature growth, and the other half a cleared paddock with a small dam and red cedar cottage.  The predominant habitat type is native forest, with various eucalypts and wattles (Acacia spp.) being most common.  Wildlife present includes bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), various invertebrate and reptile species, as well as native parrots and many other bird species.
