Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / VIC / Mittagong Homestead

Nestled on Mittagong Homestead in the picturesque foothills of the Great Dividing Range, The Woolshed at Merlewood was one of the first modern farms in the Spring Creek Valley in the 20th century.

The historic self-contained cottages of The Woolshed boast colour and character, as well as a long verandah that offers unparalleled views out to the Spring Creek valley and surrounding hills of the Victorian High Country.

Set among 50 acres of tranquil bushland, Mittagong also features a tennis court, solar heated pool and sauna. Head to the surrounding State Parks for bushwalking, mountain biking and horse riding, or try your hand at trout fishing at the beautiful Lake Eildon.

Fiona Lindsay is the owner of Mittagong Homestead, which consists of six undulating grassy paddocks interspersed with native and introduced trees and shrubs. The property features three small dams which provide water for wildlife and native vegetation mainly consists of eucalypt species.

Wildlife found on the property includes eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus) and brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums.
