A recreational site and wildlife sanctuary
Description
Sue Bendel is the owner of a property in Yellingbo, approximately 60km east of Melbourne, Victoria. The property was recently purchased as a recreational site and wildlife sanctuary. Sue intends to establish a wildlife rehabilitation site, regenerate the native bushland and register with the Trust for Nature to protect the property in-perpetuity.
The property spans 5.76 hectares on a rectangular block backing onto Yellingbo Nature Conservation Reserve, east of Woori Yallock Creek. The property features a homestead, orchard and garden area, with the remaining land comprised of eucalypt woodland. Despite a good overstory of foliage, previous grazing has depleted the ground cover and mid story, which will require revegetation.
The property is likely home to a wide range of native species, which are yet to be identified.
