Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / VIC / John and Barbara’s Refuge

John and Barbara Toth are the owners of a property situated in Monbulk, approximately 30km south of Healesville, Victoria. The property is vacant and currently unused, and the owners wish to sell it in the near future. John and Barbara are planning to build a small house but wish to maintain the majority of the property’s natural bushland for wildlife.

The property covers approximately 4.05 hectares of uncleared bushland set on rolling hills and is intersected by Desmond Creek Tributary. Vegetation is mixed, consisting of native grasslands, eucalypt woodland and dense stands of native ferns.

An array of wildlife is present on the property including eastern grey kangaroos (Macropus giganteus), swamp wallabies (Wallabia bicolor), bare-nosed wombats (Vombatus ursinus), laughing kookaburras (Dacelo novaeguineae), rosellas (Platycercus spp.), magpies (Cracticus tibicen) and many other native birds.
