Sylvia Yarnda Mnyirrinna is the custodian of Kadajiny Maya Aboriginal Flora and Fauna Refuge, a property located in approximately 30km southeast of Perth. The property is a dedicated Indigenous refuge and wildlife sanctuary used for education. It is Sylvia’s intent for it to continue in these uses, as well as to be a meeting place available to Aboriginal people sharing a vision of sustainable solutions, minimal impact and a respect of Aboriginal culture.

The property covers approximately 0.41 hectares on an escarpment, with a wide variety of orchids and native wildflowers typically present. Examples of wildlife species known to occur on Kadajiny Maya Aboriginal Flora and Fauna Refuge include short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), red kangaroos (Macropus rufus) and other macropods, bobtail lizards (Tiliqua rugosa), short-billed black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus latirostris), galahs (Eolophus roseicapilla), honeyeaters, pigeons, pied butcher birds (Cracticus nigrogularis), kulbardi (Cracticus tibicen) and a variety of other bird species.
