A residence and dedicated wildlife sanctuary
Description
Daniel and Polla Posavec are the owners of Corymbia, a property located in Chittering, approximately 60km northeast of Perth, Western Australia. The property is a residence and dedicated wildlife sanctuary, and it is the owners’ intent to regenerate the area with native species to benefit wildlife in a sustainable and bushfire-safe manner. Daniel and Polla are also considering opening the property for artists to learn to paint native flora and fauna.
The property is a bush block spanning 3 hectares, and supports a combination of natural bush and mostly native planted species. Vegetation primarily consists of marri (Eucalyptus calophylla) woodland and assorted acacias. In addition to this, a wide variety of planted native species are present.
Corymbia is home to a vast array of native birds including Carnaby’s (Calyptorhynchus latirostris) and red-tailed black (Calyptorhynchus banksii) cockatoos, red-capped parrots (Purpureicephalus spurius), twenty-eight parrots (Barnardius zonarius), scarlet robins (Petroica boodang), silvereyes (Zosterops lateralis), splendid fairy-wrens (Malurus splendens), grey shrike-thrushes (Colluricincla harmonica), striated pardalotes (Pardalotus striatus) and many more. Other wildlife present includes large numbers of western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), monitors (Varanus spp.), western blue-tongued lizards (Tiliqua occipitalis) and an array of skinks and geckos.
