Joy and Simon Ensor are the owners of Yelverton Brook Conservation Sanctuary, a property located approximately 25km north east of Margaret River. The property is a family owned, built and run eco-spa retreat and a dedicated wildlife sanctuary. The eco-friendly accommodation includes 2 x Studios and 3 x Lodges surrounded by natural bushland and set within a predator proofed sanctuary.

It is Joy and Simon’s intent for it to continue to be used for the benefit of the local environment, and to manage and educate clients on the beauty of Australian bush and wildlife. The property is also a member of Land for Wildlife and EcoTourism Australia and has held Advanced Eco Certification since December, 2009.

Yelverton Brook covers approximately 40 hectares of natural bushland dominated by eucalypt woodlands on sand and loam soils with a winter stream which is heavily vegetated and provides vital habitat and protection for native fauna. Vegetation types are diverse and include semi temperate bushland along the creek line.

Wildlife known to inhabit the sanctuary includes woylies (Bettongia penicillata), brushtail (Trichosurus vulpecula) and ringtail (Pseudocheirus peregrinus) possums, southern brown bandicoots (Isoodon obesulus) and western grey kangaroos (Macropus fuliginosus). Yelverton Brook is also home to over 50 species of bird and a variety of reptiles including snakes, lizards, skinks and goannas.
