Wildlife Land Trust / Sanctuaries / QLD / Rosecliffe Conservation Area

Perched high above the rolling hills of Pinbarren Valley in the Noosa Hinterland, Rosecliffe Boutique Farm Cottages features extensive tropical gardens, panoramic views, an organic citrus orchard, and a range of wildlife and farm animals.

Hosts Nadia and Paul have cared for Rosecliffe for over 30 years and love sharing their knowledge of wildlife, seasonal events and nearby nature walks with guests. Rosecliffe is located directly on the scenic Noosa Trail System bordering Woondum National Park, and is home to an abundance of wildlife including koalas, gliders, pademelons and platypus, as well as over 80 species of rainforest birds.

Help out with the daily feeding runs for the resident cattle, ponies, alpacas and chickens, and enjoy the fresh, organic fruits picked directly from the orchard. The nearby beaches, towns and national parks are perfect spots for a range of activities such bush walking, bird watching, mountain biking and canoeing.

Paul and Nadia have maintained the natural values of the property for over 30 years, and it is their intent to continue regenerating native vegetation to fortify the property’s wildlife corridor. They also aim to continue planting food trees for the local koala population and have plans to install informative signs along the adjoining Noosa Trail Network.

Rosecliffe Boutique Farm Cottages covers 37.6 hectares and forms a significant wildlife corridor linking the Woodum and Pinbarren National Parks. The Noosa Trail Network borders the property for 2km and a permanent creek intersects the property. Rosecliffe is also involved in the University of Queensland and Landcare’s Endangered Coxen’s Fig-parrot Project.

Vegetation on the property is dominated by mixed pasture species and eucalypt woodland, with some areas of subtropical rainforest and a riparian zone running along the creek edge.

The property provides habitat for a vast array of wildlife including red-necked wallabies (Macropus rufogriseus), red-necked pademelons (Thylogale thetis), koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus), short-beaked echidnas (Tachyglossus aculeatus), northern brown bandicoots (Isoodon macrourus), squirrel (Petaurus norfolcensis) and feathertail (Acrobates pygmaeus) gliders and short-eared brushtail possums (Trichosurus caninus). Lace monitors (Varanus varius), carpet (Morelia spilota) and scrub (Morelia amethistina) pythons, common tree snakes (Dendrelaphis punctulata), red-bellied black snakes (Pseudechis porphyriacus) and green tree frogs (Litoria caerulea) are also abundant on the property.

A wide range of birdlife is also present including wedge-tailed eagles (Aquila audax), king parrots (Alisterus scapularis), black cockatoos (Calyptorhynchus spp.) and endangered red goshawks (Erythrotriorchis radiatus).
