Volunteer wildlife carers rescue and rehabilitate thousands of animals across Australia every year. While some States allow the keeping of sick, injured or orphaned native animals in emergency circumstances by people that are unlicensed, you will need to obtain an appropriate licence in your State to become a long term wildlife carer.

Approximately 40% of Australian Wildlife Land Trust members are actively involved in wildlife care and rehabilitation, showcasing the important link between caring for injured or orphaned animals and having adequate habitat available for their continued survival.
